Conemaugh Physician Group - Neonatology offers a higher level of care for premature and ill newborns at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center's Level 3 Regional Intensive Care Nursery (RICN). The unit provides medical care to babies born in and around the surrounding Greater Johnstown Area.
Neonatology Providers
Our dedicated team of board-certified neonatologists, certified neonatal nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, occupational and speech therapists, social workers, and clerical staff work together to provide a positive and supportive experience for each family.
Premature and ill newborns are admitted to the Regional Intensive Care Nursery following delivery if medical assistance is needed. The RICN staff is with mom in the labor and delivery room to provide immediate care for baby. After baby is admitted to the RICN, the staff provides mom and dad.

Our Team Includes...
- Neonatologist, a pediatrician who specializes in the care of sick newborns
- A nurse manager, who facilitates, evaluates and coordinates the daily operation of the RICN
- Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (CRPN's), and Physician Assistants who coordinate and direct the care of infants under the supervision of the neonatologist
- Registered Nurses (RNs), who provide hands-on care for all infants
- Occupational and speech therapists to help strengthen and monitor your baby’s developmental progress
- Social service representatives, who can provide information on financial resources and transportation
- Clerical Staff, the first staff members that all visitors talk with at the RICN reception desk or via phone; responsible for ensuring patient safety by approving visitors for entry to the unit
